the walk down the 18th Fairway towards the R&A is the most famous walk in golf. Can you avoid the Valley of Sin?
ReplyDeleteNicklaus needed a birdie on 18 (the 72d hole) to tie Doug Sanders in the 1970 Open Championship at St. Andrews. He Drove the Green (!!) into the grass at the back and made 3. Everyone remembers that Sanders could have won but he MISSED from 3 feet on 18. The next day Nicklaus won the 18 hole playoff by 1 shot.
