Pier walk, 27/11/11

Cool tree.

Sorry, I can't figure out how to flip it.

I did the pier walk with Megan. She borrowed my gown for some pics. She took a video of the walk; I am trying to upload it to the blog. It was so windy and really really scary this time, not just really scary...

I love that the pier is not straight. I think it looks so cool.

I love that we live in a harbor town.

I like that there is a sign that says "steep hill." Thank you I understand that, I was walking up it.

I don't know why this is here, but I feel like if it is in this location it should be historical.

oh the emotions of studying abroad

So, a few posts ago, I said I loved it here so much I want to come back as a post grad. And, before that I wanted to stay for not only the year but for the next 2 or 3 and graduate as an undergrad from here. After reading week, I was ready to come home. In fact, I was counting down the days. And now... two weeks after starting to count days, I want to stay. I am getting sad that this is almost over. I will be home in 3 weeks. I am looking forward to Christmas in Chicago and seeing my family, but I love St. Andrews. Yesterday, I almost cried becasue I was not with my family for Thanksgiving and even during Raisin I was like, okay I am done with this place, time to move on to the next thing, and today I want to stay here longer. What a weird roller-coaster I am on!

Thanksgiving

The Turkey! 5.7 kilos, 12.5 pounds. 37 pounds (money) + the 5 pounds down payment. I actually had fun carrying it back to DRA. It shouted I am American and proud of it. It looked and felt smaller then I was expecting after seeing them come into the shop this morning. I got it from the American shop in town. They also sell Goober jelly, mac and cheese, marshmallow fluff, goldfish, fried onions, cooking pumpkin in a can, and most importantly, a turkey!

The mess I walked into this morning...

I thought it was going to be clean...

While I was at class, Megan and Elizabeth buttered the turkey. I said I was going to cook it, but I was at class the first hour it was in the oven. I started to get it ready, but when someone had to stick their hand up the turkey's butt to see if all the stuff was out and Megan volunteered, she pretty much became the turkey person.

The dessert, excuse me, pudding station.

The trash from the night. lots...

Sam serving the Mulled wine. It was hot wine with cinnamon and oranges.

Getting leftovers.

Me and Megan's turkeys.

Chairs from Sam's flat.

My turkey.

What I was left to clean up, which I am happy to, since everyone says I did not contribute. It is not my fault that I had class. I cooked rice, corn, and the gravy, and helped watch the other food cook. I took the turkey out of the oven when it was done.

The Turkey "bits and bobs"

I did not think being away from my family for Thanksgiving was going to be a big deal. But, I miss them! It was not the same.
